The chambers for the priests.
Ezekiel 42:1 Then caryed he me out in to the fore court towarde the north, & brought me in to the chambre þt stode ouer agaynst the backebuyldynge north warde, Ezekiel 42:2 which had the length of an .C. cubytes whose dore turned toward the north. The wydenesse conteyned .C. cubites: Ezekiel 42:3 ouer agaynst the .xx. cubites of the ynnermer courte, and agaynst the paued worke that was in the fore court. Besyde all these thre, therestode pylers, one ouer agaynst another: Ezekiel 42:4 And before thys chambre there was a walkynge place of .x. cubites wyde, and within was a waye of one cubite wyde, & their dores towarde the north. Ezekiel 42:5 Thus the hyest chambres were allwaye narower then the loweste and myddell moste of the buylding: Ezekiel 42:6 for they bare chambre vpon chambre, and stode thre together one vpon another not hauynge pilers lyke the fore courte: therfore were they smaller then those beneth and in the myddeste, to reken from the grounde vpwarde. Ezekiel 42:7 The wall with out that stode by the chambres towarde the vtter moste courte vpon the fore syde of the chambres, was .C. cubytes longe: Ezekiel 42:8 for the length of the vttemost chambres in the fore courte was .C. cubytes also: but þe length therof before the temple was an .C. cubytes. Ezekiel 42:9 These chambres had vnder them an intraunce of the east syde, wherby a man myght go in to them out of the fore courte, Ezekiel 42:10 thorow the thicke wall of the fore courte towarde the east, right ouer agaynst the separated buyldinge. Ezekiel 42:11 Before the same buyldynge vpon thys syde there were chambers also whych had awaye vnto them, lyke as the chambers on the north syde of the same length and wydenesse. Their intraunce, fashyon and dores were also of the same maner. Ezekiel 42:12 Yee euen lyke as the other chamber dores were, so were those also of the south syd. And before the waye toward the fingers steppes on þe east side, there stode a dore to go in at.
The use thereof.
Ezekiel 42:13 Then sayde he vnto me: The chambers towarde the north and the south whych stande before the backe buyldynge: those be holye habitatyons, wheryn the prestes that do seruyce before the Lorde, muste eate the most holy offeringes: and there must they laye the most holye offerynges: meatofferinges, synne offringes & trespace offerynges, for it is an holy place. Ezekiel 42:14 When the prestes come therin, they shall not go out in to the fore courte: but (seyenge they be holye) they shall leaue the clothes of their ministracyon, and put on other garmentes, when they haue eny thynge to do with the people. Ezekiel 42:15 Now when he had measured al the ynnermer house, he brought me forth thorowe the east porte, & measured þe same rounde aboute. Ezekiel 42:16 He measured the east syde with þe meterodde, whych rounde aboute conteyned .v.C. meteroddes. Ezekiel 42:17 And the north syne measured he, whiche conteyned rounde aboute euen so much. Ezekiel 42:18 The other two sydes also towarde the south
The measures of the outward court.
Ezekiel 42:19 and the west (which he measured) conteyned ether of them .v.C. meteroddes. Ezekiel 42:20 So he measured all the foure sydes where there wente a wall rounde aboute .v.C. meteroddes long and as brode also whych separated the holye from the vnholy.
